5-  Lines

How are you feeling today ?

To observe whether the lines are rising or falling etc.,
hold the paper at arm's length with the left hand margin

at eye level, facing you. The paper should be horizontal,

as it would be if placed on a table with the writing on the

upper side of the page. You can see the direction of the

lines more easily from this angle or, alternatively, you

could always use a set square or ruler.

If your lines go in the same direction  as one of the
samples, then scroll down the page.

Lines

The lines of writing on a page have a habit of changing from one
period of time to the next. They represent our emotional life and how
we are adapting to, or being influenced by, our environment. For
instance, if the lines are falling, it shows that our energy reserves are
low, and this may bring about feelings of depression. A break from
routine, or a request for, and receipt of help is what is required. Rising
lines show extra energy and enthusiasm, which can be a source of
encouragement to others.

Stable emotions

Your reasoning power rules your emotions, and you are able to remain
calm, steady and well controlled under most circumstances. Being
neither over enthusiastic nor pessimistic to a marked degree, your well
developed powers of concentration and single-mindedness consistently
enable you to reach your goals.

NOTES

Here we are looking at a base line which is stable and consistent,
a reflection of the writer.

Optimistic

Very Optimistic

You tend to be very optimistic about life in general, and are always
waiting for something bright to turn up. Because of an unsteady nature,
you are unlikely to find that you are approached for business advice.
Unfortunately, the joy of those with their eyes on the rainbow in the sky,
can turn to terrible frustration if the pot of gold is not forthcoming.

NOTES

Here the optimistic approach to life is over done (although it may be well
intentioned), and you can lose sight of the practical realities
needed to bring your ideas down to earth.

Lines Falling

Needs a Break

At the moment you appear to be depressed because of your current
situation or state of health. Your inner feelings of self doubt could be
eradicated by taking a break from the situation, then returning with
renewed faith and optimism to face up fairly and squarely to any fears.
This would overcome your tendency to succumb to discouragement.

NOTES

Too much work and not enough play can be exhausting, and can make
you  appear and feel a little dull. Fresh energy and an enthusiasm
for life is what is needed, as this will take you where you wish to go
Self-pity will only get in your way.
Have a good holiday.

Arcade Lines

Good starter -Poor finisher

You begin new projects and jobs with a lively and willing interest, but
due to lack of persistence in your efforts, and a desire for change, you
give up too easily, before the project is finished and can bear any fruit.
You would be more successful in the sphere of working life if you
made greater efforts to stick to anyone task, in order to see it through
to a victorious conclusion. In this way you would be more stable and
satisfied with your life.

NOTES

Notice how the lines rise at the start and fall at the end of a line, showing
how the writer's energy input rises and falls from the beginning of a
project to its finish, or near finish, as the case may be
.

Garland Lines

Garland Lines

Poor starter -Good finisher

Through hard circumstances, or physical weakness, you get tired easily,
but after fighting low feelings of melancholy and dejection, you try to
conquer the weariness of spirit. After doing this you pick yourself up,
recover the loss of ground and come out on top, in order to complete
successfully any given task. You are not a very good starter, but an
excellent finisher .

NOTES

Here the lines fall at the start and rise at the end. This indicates that, after
a good grumble and a slow start, you are able to gain enthusiasm
for a task after you are about half way through it and are able to bring
it to a successful conclusion. Finishing a task on an
optimistic note brings happiness, especially when your hand-
writing shows that you were not too keen at the start.

Changes of Mood

At the moment, you are extremely sensitive and emotional. This gives
rise to constant changes of mind and inner feelings of insecurity. You are
happy at one moment and depressed the next, often for no tangible
reason.

NOTES

Here, as well as the lines bobbing up and down, there is no consistency
of pattern in how you handle your emotions. In other words, the
emotions get the better of you, with happiness one day and distress the
next. It is clear to see that more stability is needed in your life,
and in your being. Going up and down like a yo-yo according to the
dictates of  your environment, is understandable, but little can be done
to stabilize the situation if you are not stable within.

Uncertainty

You tend to be rather unstable, letting emotional fluctuations get the
better of you. Uncertainty is caused by a lack of inner balance and
steadiness. Greater stability can be achieved through genuine praise/and
encouragement from others, and by learning to take the rough with the
smooth in a more consistent and positive way.

Rising Tiles

Rising Tiles

Over Optimistic

You have a habit of being over-optimistic due to your ambitious
longings and hopes. This eagerness .is curtailed due to lack of courage
and consistent steadiness of will; this problem tends to re-assert Itself
again and again. Generally speaking, you are willing to tackle any sort
of project that attracts your interest, but are sometimes tempted to
over-estimate your ability and, therefore, cannot always be relied upon.

NOTES

This type of writing  indicates that you work in short,
sharp bursts of enthusiasm without the steadiness to keep at it. Rising
tiles are like an attempt at rising lines, but rising lines indicate that the
energy and enthusiasm of such writers is constant. The enthusiasm is
definitely there in the rising tiles, but not the consistency to work at a
steady pace.

If just one or two words in a script rise or fall, that will show you how
you  feel about the subject matter associated with those
particular words at that present time.
This can be called reading between the lines.

Sometimes whole paragraphs have rising lines when it's about happy
news, or they go down falling when there is sad news.

Falling Tiles

Falling Tiles

Pessimistic

On the one hand you are often inwardly tense, and this condition
adversely reflects on your  courage, in that you have difficulty in
 over-coming a pessimistic outlook.

Loyalty

On the other hand, you have a marked sense of loyalty and
responsibility and idealistic standards. You are instinctively aware
of the law of 'compensation and retribution for good and evil deeds'.
This state of affairs often gives rise to inner feelings of discourage-
ment which, however, you usually manage to resolve successfully when
given time to relax, thus manifesting a high degree of determination,
which often helps you, especially with regard to financial shortages.
For example, when you notice an accumulation of bills, you at first
become disheartened, but always strive to do what needs to be done in
the end.

Case History

With this optimistic outlook on life, my graphology
teacher, Frank Hilliger, would have his lines rising. But every so often,
falling tiles would creep in. It was interesting to see this happen, as it
would always occur just after a pile of bills had turned up. Needless
to say, after the bills had been paid, the falling tiles would disappear
from his writing, and would be replaced again by rising lines.
