Style of Writing
The printed, calligraphic and overloaded styles of writing show the
different masks behind which people like to hide.
Simplified writing shows no mask at all, and tends towards clear thinking.
On the other hand, neglected writing, being somewhat illegible, shows
an indecisive nature and a tendency to evade commitments. Due to
unclear thinking, such writers find it difficult to be straightforward
with themselves and others, and they are often very unsure of the
mask they would like to present to others.

Secretive
You are a secretive person who doesn't always show your true
feelings to others.
NOTES
Sometimes such writers are trained to write in printed letters for their
work, and later on this is adapted to their everyday writing. I have
come across people who have been using printed letters in their script
for such a long time, that they have no idea what their writing would
look like with joined up letters. If you know writers with printed writing,
why not suggest they write a page of ordinary writing (using the three zones)
just to see what it looks like. Does the writing get larger? What other
changes are there? Do they feel comfortable with it?
When people identify with the official side of writers who print their
writing (through job, position etc.), they find it difficult to relate to them
as people. Such writers use the official side of themselves as a means
to hide their true feelings about situations.

Good manners
Your inner experience compels you to display good manners in order
not to show others what you are really like. You often present yourself
as acting correctly to the learned rules of social behavior. However,
under abnormal conditions of unconventional circumstances you would
be forced to abandon your formal perfection, owing to your lack of ability
to adjust yourself easily to unpleasant situations.
Good taste
On the positive side, you have the ability to work in an unhurried,
though neat and orderly manner along prescribed lines. You show good
taste, especially in the field of art.
NOTES
In calligraphic writing, writers pay a great deal of attention to detail in
order and pattern. You have set ways of going about your business
and therefore, can be predictable.
Calligraphy is an art form, and some people use it as an alternative
style of writing from their usual script. These writers are obviously
artistic and probably a bit more flexible than the interpretation would
suggest.

You try to overcome an inner feeling of being inferior to others by
attempting to impress others in different ways.
You admire the socially prominent and affluent, and have a tendency
to be impressed by them.
When dealing with others you have a tendency to take your time with
an over careful attitude, in order to make your presentation more
attractive and free of mistakes. When you realize that people will like
you without your trying to impress them, you will gain inner feelings of
self-assurance and stability.
CASE HISTORY
Many years ago, when I was a monk, a gentleman used to visit us. We
nick-named him 'Willy Woffler the word juggler'. His writing was over-
loaded, and he had an excellent command of the English language,
although he would go over the top with it sometimes. Upon finishing his
breakfast, he would tell the cook about the wonderful, stupendous,
appetizing, glorious breakfast he had just eaten. It was a simple meal by
most peoples' standards, but he always seemed to like it.
He used to do a bit of work as a journalist which suited him, and was a
great help to me when I started writing.

Clear thinking
You are an intelligent person who can usually receive an unclouded
picture of an idea or event. Generally, you have unbiased and unpre-
judiced opinions on what is significant and what is not, and need little
preparation for thought and action. Basically, you like to simplify issues,
in order to cut out the unnecessary and superfluous, and to keep to the
essentials. You also cultivate good taste.
NOTES
Simplified writing is very beautiful to look at. Often the writing has
changed very little since school days, and yet there is a fluency of stroke
that only an adult could achieve. You are still able to see with
the eyes of a child, even though you have been through many
experiences that have matured you into an adult.

Difficult to know well
You are reluctant to take on burdens and obligations, because you do
not want to be restricted by social conventions. Generally speaking,
you do as you please, and it is difficult to get to know you well.
Sometimes you experience inner feelings of uncertainty regarding
what is or is not important. If you do not exercise control over these
feelings, disorderliness of behavior will arise.
You will find it easier to get on with others by having more considera-
tion for their feelings. It would be helpful for you to take an objective
view of your different thoughts on life, in order to see what your dislikes
are, and what you would really like to achieve. In this way, your
thinking will become clearer which, in turn, will give you a firm direction
and a greater satisfaction in life.
NOTES
Neglected writing is very difficult to read. Such writing shows a lack of
clarity within the writers and in their expression.
You can help yourself by writing in a legible way. Others
will be able to read it for a start, and clear expression can become the
norm in your life.
